JOHN 3:16

May 12, 2015

♥ What a joy it was to be able to watch my nephew, David, be married to the love of his life, Elizabeth, this past Saturday! In a world which seems totally confused about what marriage is and supposed to be, it was refreshing to see a wedding which honored God’s purpose in the creation of the union between a man and a woman. The celebration was well attended and included the sharing of an even more important union based upon the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Christian has much to look forward to when we leave this veil of tears and get to sit down at the marriage supper of the Lamb. Our Bridegroom, Jesus Christ, has provided for his church a wonderful fellowship with him and each other around a table of celebration of what He has done for us by redeeming us out of the hand of the enemy:

Revelation 19:6 “And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. 7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. 9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”

It was so much fun to be with family and friends of the bride and groom and be able to rejoice at their happiness and share in it ourselves. This will be nothing in comparison to the wedding feast the Lord has prepared for his children. How wonderful it will be to see the Lord presiding at the head of the table and for us to be with him and each other! This is one wedding celebration nobody will want to miss. But alas, there will be those who reject the Master’s gracious invitation:

Matthew 22:2 “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son 3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.  4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:”

I pray we may get a chance to see each other down here on the planet. But if not here, I look forward to seeing you at the marriage supper of the Lamb. Our invitation is found all throughout the Bible. My favorite invite is found in

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Love in Christ,
