What a whirlwind of activity crammed into such a few weeks! Since going to the mountains of PA and coming back to Granada to go right into Bible camp, and from that into VBS and into the reality of ministry in the lives of people, I scarce have been able to catch my breath. Hopefully, I will be able to be back on a regular schedule now and be more consistent.
The Scripture says:
Proverbs 27:1 “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”
When you and I wake up in the morning, we may think we know how the day is going to go, but reality can turn on a dime. One phone call, one visit at our front door, one chance meeting in the marketplace and all of a sudden the best laid plans of mice and men are altered. This is why it is so important to start each and every day with the Lord. He knows the beginning from the end of each and every day. We do not read the Word of God to fortify His day, but for spiritual nourishment for ourselves. We do not tell God anything He does not already know when we pray. But when we pray, we are acknowledging our dependence upon Him for strength and guidance throughout the course of the day.
It is a foolish man who would walk out the door of his heated house in the midst of a Minnesota winter dressed in only his underwear and with bare feet and head. And yet how many who profess the name of Christ walk out the front door into the spiritual darkness of this world without getting spiritually dressed to face the day.
Ephesians 6:10-1810 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. :14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
Hope this finds you girded with His strength to face the day. We can do all things through Christ which strengthens us.
Love in Christ,
Pastor John Schofield
