Jesus is coming

September 8th, 2015

In evangelical circles, there has been much speculation about the unique aligning of the earth in reference to the moon. This September, there are two blood moons. On Monday, the 28th, there is not only a blood moon, but a super moon. Some have aligned the Jewish calendar and these lunar events with past catastrophes or other monumental events. Some believe Jesus will be coming back or the rapture will take place in conjunction with these signs in the heavens.

I do not know when Jesus is coming again, but I will echo to you the words of Jesus.

“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 25:13

Jesus could come back on September 28th, but note Jesus said we cannot know the day or the hour. He also said:

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” Matthew 24:36

Jesus himself says he does not know the day or the hour – only the Father. Therefore, it behooves us to be ready for the coming of the Lord at all times lest we get caught as by a thief unawares.

Though it does seem the times are coming to a climactic preparation for the arrival of Jesus. With all that is going on in the Middle East: the rise of anti-Semitism, the increase of radical religious movements even to the killing of those who disagree with them, and with the economic, ecological, religious, and geo-political upheavals, it can seem as if the world is coming to an end. But then we must remember how Christians must have felt during the time of Nero when they referred to him as antichrist and how our forefathers must have been thinking during the time of Adolf Hitler. Surely, they must have thought it was the coming of the end.

The Apostle Paul lived his life and encouraged us to live our lives with a present expectation of the coming of the Lord.

Are you ready? Ready or not, He will come.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
