Psalm 147: Praise ye the Lord: For it is good to sing praises unto our God; For it is pleasant; and praise is comely…16 He giveth snow like wool: He scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. 17 He casteth forth his iice like morsels: Who can stand before his cold? 18 He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: He causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

I am writing this while the snow is still falling and blowing. It started before 5:00 a.m. and now, at 6:00 p.m., it is still snowing. It looks like a foot or more has fallen and the wind is going to begin blowing it around. This is our first major snow of the season.

It is now 10:30 a.m. on the morning of the 23rd and we have a total of 16 inches on the ground. I have been using the skid loader for over three hours and the job is about half done. The snow is piled up into three huge piles that are going to continue to grow. “He giveth snow like wool. He scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes. He casteh forth his ice like morsels: Who can stand before his cold?”

The sun, reflecting off the new fallen snow, is blinding bright. Pure snow, undefiled by footprint or decayed by melting, glistens in the morning sun. It is a beautiful illustration used in the Scriptures of the cleansing power of God’s forgiveness.

Isaiah 118 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

White as snow – God can take fallen sinful mankind and make them pure like the new fallen snow if he/she would just repent and believe the goodness and grace of God towards themselves. Jesus did not use fuller’s soap to scrub us clean, but His own precious blood. He is likened to the refiner’s fire and like fuller’s soap.

Malachi 3:But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

A fuller is one who whitens cloth. In Palestine, the fullers used the extract from a plant containing the property to whiten. Jesus is the only cleanser powerful enough to whiten the sinful condition of fallen man. Jesus, on the mount of transfiguration, was brighter than the whitest cloth.

Mark 9: And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

I pray we have all been to the Lord’s laundromat.

Because of His Washing,

Brother Schofield
